It is easily accessible by the Nagykanizsa - Murakeresztúr railway line. The settlement is first mentioned in the written documents as early as 1422 under the name of Fythyfelde. When the place is first mentioned it is owned by Balázs Keresztúry. In 1531 it belongs to the Kanizsa parish. The place was in¬vaded by the Turks several times. As the villagers were afraid of the Turks they did not dare to remain in the settlement. This might be the reason why the place re¬mained uninhibited until the end of the Turkish occupation. The place was resettled very early. In the 18 th century Fityeház had several own¬ers. The Batthyány family remained the main landowner of the area until the 1930 s. From the 19 th century the place was mainly settled by Croats. The real development of Fityeház started when the railway line between Nagykanizsa and Pécs touched the village in the 1870 s. Unfortunately the number of inhabitants decreases. The infrastructure is good in the village. 100% of the apartments are with run¬ning water, 32% of the apartments are with telephone, garbage collection is provided. Health - sports - and cultural facilities are also good. The villages has a culture centre library, elementary school and sports fields. There are 21 small enterprises in the village. Until 1990 Fityeház belonged to Murakersztúr. After the elections of 1990 the new municipality considered the devel¬opment of the village very important. They wanted to stop people\'s moving, 15 new building sites were given to those who wished to remain here. Fityeház has a twin city in Croatia.
